In the Old Kingdom the wickerwork was often detailed as green or yellow horizontal striations, representing a basket made from a continuous spiral, with strips whipstitched together. In later times multicolored checkered patterns became more common. The usual color is green. The phonetic value of k is of uncertain derivation.
