Usage notes
In Modern Hebrew, the letter ס ( s ) is nearly always pronounced /s/; however, there are a few words and names with a /z/ sound that are nonetheless sometimes written with a ס instead of a ז ( z ) ; examples include מוזיקה \ מוסיקה ( múzika , “ music ” ) and פריז \ פריס ( paríz , “ Paris ” ) .
